The layout has a 365′ long single track mainline and uses NCE DCC. It operates as a subsidiary of the New York Central, between terminals at Ashtabula, Ohio and Pittsburgh, PA., during the transition from steam to diesel. There are five intermediate villages, with wayside industries; four with passing sidings. There is also a parallel B&O highline, with no sidings. The terminals are back-to-back, allowing through running and re-staging. Four-hour operating sessions involve 30 passenger and freight trains, and are controlled by a dispatcher, using my 2-way radios.
