The prototype covered bridge is located in Wolcott, Vermont and has an interesting structure. Today, the wooden part of the bridge is disconnected from the steel track structure underneath. Think of this as a hybrid-built bridge. Building the model consisted of building the steel bridge parts, abutments and rail/tie installation. The wooden covered bridge structure is constructed separately and slips over the steel structural members and carries no weight. The model represents a double Town truss with a roof cupola and spans 104 feet.
