Steve Funaro and son “Stevie” of Funaro & Camerlengo will conduct a make and take clinic for one of their new craftsman kits. Participants will construct a One-Piece Body Rutland 4100 Series gondola car. The prototype car was converted from flatcars in the 1930s and run until the 1960s. This clinic will provide the modeler with the kit and cover the skills needed to complete the model. Steve will give a general explanation of composite gondola history and show participants how to de-flash; properly drill holes for and install grab irons along with trucks and couplers; install brake appliances and piping including brake wheel and staff; and install cut levers. Tips on cleaning and painting will be discussed. Participants will learn everything they need to know to build a fine craftsman kit. This is a great opportunity for those who wish to advance their modeling skills beyond plastic models and is a great skill set that could lead towards scratch-building railway cars. This is an extra fare clinic and will cost only $25 (list price for the kit is $39.99)!

Craftsman kits require tools for assembly. Participants need to bring the following:
* Super-Thin CA Cement (Cyanoacrylate)
* X-acto #11 and #17 blades
* Pin Vise with #78, #79, #74, 1/32” and 1/16” bits
* Flat Nail Boards (Black Emery on Foam Core)
* Small Pair of Cutting Pliers
* Small Needle Nose Pliers
* Tweezers

The following parts will need to be obtained and added to the model but are not essential to have during the clinic. Suggested sources for these parts will be provided.

* Kadee #5 or #58 Couplers (can be added after the clinic)
* 2-56 Screws
* Pair of T-Section Bettendorf Trucks, 4 sets of wheels (can be added after the clinic)
