Over the last decade, the cameras that are built into smartphones have become really exceptional ways to capture photographs. For many people, they’ve replaced the need to own a dedicated camera. This is true for model railroad photographers as well. In fact, the device you carry around in your pocket every day can even be superior in a few ways to a traditional SLR when taking pictures of your layout.

This clinic will cover several techniques you can use to make more realistic model photos with just your smartphone. Emphasis will be on things you can do with your phone just as it is. No expensive extra hardware or software required. Topics will include perspective, framing, depth of field, and even simple editing.
