Powered by Digitrax DCC, the Pantavesin & Portal Railroad models a fictitious freight/passenger line in present-day British Columbia and Alberta. Designed around a semi-modular dog bone plan, it features a double helix connecting to an upper deck, a scissors crossover, a stepper-motor-powered turntable, and a 5-block signaled architecture. An Arduino microcontroller manages nearly all controls and sensors, including turnout switches, block signal lights, and block-occupancy optical sensors. This allows for either manual or automated train operation. Modeled industries include a sawmill and associated pallet and keg manufacturer, ore quarry and crush plant, mountain logging operations, and seaside shipping dock.
