The NER holds a Celebration of Models and Photos at the convention. Here you can bring your latest modeling or photographic creation to share with fellow attendees and to have the opportunity to enter either the Showcase (Display only) or technically evaluated to Achievement Program standards. Those that achieve a high enough score will be awarded Achievement Program Certificates as well as competitive certificates. Both scratch-built and kit-modified entries will be accepted in the following categories: steam locomotive, diesel and other locomotive, passenger cars, freight cars, caboose, structures and dioramas (displays).
The Photo Contest will accept entries of both prototype and model photos. Evaluations will take place to select the most photogenic images in the following categories: prototype B&W, prototype color, model B&W, model color, and Working on the Railroad.
All entries, models and photos, must include a NMRA #901 form from the NMRA website. Entries into the Model Contest only must also include a NMRA #902 form also from the NMRA website. Filling these forms out in advance will greatly enhance your registration process. (Please ensure that your name does not appear anywhere on a #902 form.)
The People’s Choice is a popular vote exhibit. Convention attendees are the judges, and they will vote for their favorite model in four categories: motive power, rolling stock, structure, and display. Certificates for first, second, and third in each category will be awarded.
